Everyone deserves to live in freedom, dignity and safety. Stop Human Trafficking Worldwide CIC is inviting members, volunteers and supporters to help turn concern about human trafficking and modern slavery into practical action.

Building on the four-pronged proposal of our President, Keith Best, we propose a task force with four working teams: business engagement, public awareness, partnerships, and parliamentary and international action. Each team will have clear responsibilities, achievable tasks and a shared commitment to protecting people from exploitation.

Our Mission

To help prevent human trafficking and modern slavery by asking businesses for evidence of action, informing communities, strengthening cooperation and encouraging effective public policy.

Team 1: Business Engagement and Supply Chain Transparency

Purpose: Encourage businesses to explain how they identify and address exploitation risks in their operations and supply chains.

• Identify companies and review their published modern slavery statements and policies.
• Ask clear questions about supplier checks, risks identified, worker protection and action taken.
• Contact the relevant business representative and request a response within 21 days.
• Follow up respectfully and keep an accurate record of replies and unanswered questions.

First-month target: Review five companies and prepare a short record for each, including sources, responses and next steps.

Our central question: “What have you checked, what risks have you found, and what have you done to protect workers?”

Our campaign will seek evidence of meaningful action. A company’s failure to reply will be recorded accurately and will not, by itself, be treated as proof of exploitation.

Team 2: Public Awareness and Community Engagement

Purpose: Help people understand modern slavery and take informed action in their communities and everyday purchasing decisions.

• Prepare a short leaflet, social media messages and a simple question consumers can ask businesses.
• Arrange talks with faith groups, schools, universities and community organisations.
• Support information stalls, discussions and awareness events.
• Share reliable information and record the questions raised by the public.

First-month target: Produce one public information pack and seek an opportunity for a community talk or information session.

A simple volunteer action: Speak to three people about the campaign and share the questions they ask.

Team 3: Partnerships and Cooperation

Purpose: Work with organisations already tackling exploitation and identify where SHTWW can make a useful contribution.

• Identify relevant charities, specialist organisations and community networks.
• Learn about their work and offer practical support, such as volunteers, venues or event promotion.
• Arrange introductory discussions and explore one achievable joint activity.
• Agree responsibilities and appropriate safeguarding and referral arrangements before undertaking activities involving people affected by exploitation.

First-month target: Identify ten potential partners, contact three and seek agreement on one small joint activity.

Team 4: Parliamentary and International Action

Purpose: Build support for stronger transparency, worker protection and effective action against modern slavery.

• Prepare a concise briefing using evidence gathered by the business engagement team.
• Encourage members to contact their own MPs and request a meeting or written response.
• Identify relevant parliamentary inquiries and opportunities to contribute evidence.
• Research international issues and discuss appropriate action with experienced partner organisations.

First-month target: Prepare one parliamentary briefing, request an MP meeting or response, and identify one relevant parliamentary or international opportunity.

How the Task Force Will Work

Each team will have a lead and at least two or three supporting volunteers. A task force coordinator will connect the teams, support progress and arrange a monthly review.

Every team will report under four headings:

1. Work completed.
2. Responses received.
3. Obstacles and support needed.
4. Next action.

Volunteers can begin with one manageable task, taking approximately an hour during the month. Contributions may include research, writing, outreach, translation, social media or event support.
